Administrative Staff:
Marc Mallet (bio)
Marc Mallet

Marc is a veteran teacher from Bordeaux, France. He studied at Ecole Normale in Bordeaux and earned an M.A.T. at Georgia State University. He recently received the distinction of "chevalier dans l'ordre des Palmes Académiques" from the French Ministry of Education. Marc has varied experiences including heading the Foreign Language department at The Lovett School, teaching course at the Alliance Française and coordinating exchange programs with school children in France. Marc brings us his experience from the French-American bilingual school in Berkeley, CA where he acted as curriculum coordinator for the French program.

Michel Lopez (bio)
Michel Lopez

Michel J. Lopez graduated from the University of Montpellier with a “Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie” (specialization in international trade). Michel also studied at the University of Sorbonne Paris IV where he earned a Bachelor’s in Languages and International Business in English and Spanish. More recently he completed a Master degree in French at Georgia State University where he also earned a teaching certificate. From 2009-2012, he taught French as a Visiting Instructor at Georgia State.

In addition to his academic credentials, Michel has a wide experience in the business world. He worked as an export assistant for Vilaro (Viticulteurs du Languedoc-Roussillon) in Brussels, and also acted as customer liaison and coordinator of bank account operations with CBC Bank (third largest bank in Belgium). In 2012, Michel joined the French American Chamber of Commerce as marketing assistant and served in that role until late 2013. Since leaving the FACC, he has been teaching classes and private lessons in French at Alliance Française.

Jeremy Mallet (bio)

Jeremy began working at Ecole du Samedi in 2014. He is from Georgia and studied at both Georgia Tech and Mercer Law School. Jeremy is both French and American and has been blessed with many opportunities to travel to France. He has experience operating his own law practice and has also worked for the IT department at the Lovett School.

Nicole Saade (bio)

Karine Kushnir (bio)

Karine Kushnir was born in Paris, France. She lived in France for 20 years, and moved to the U.S.A. 20 years ago as a nanny. After getting a degree in tourism in France, a degree in mass-communication, and a bachelor in hospitality management in the U.S.A, she worked in the Hospitality business for Marriott Hotels and Starwood Hotels as Assistant to Director of Sales and Marketing, and as On-line Revenue manager until she became pregnant with her first child and decided to be a "at home mom". Karine is the mother of two children at the school. Her daughter Eva started in the CP1 class with Madame Nathalie, and her son Ethan started in Maternelle1 with Madame Erika. They have been students in Ecole du Samedi for the last 5 years. They are still moving along the different classes in the section francophone. Her husband Alex, is Russian/American.
Being part of the Ecole du Samedi helps her children integrate their French culture to their everyday life, not only on an education level, but also on a social level. Karine is working at the Ecole du Samedi's  library and volunteers at any other events throughout the year (potluck, Christmas party, crêpes day, Kermesse).

Aurelie Doucette (bio)

Aurélie Doucette is the mother of two children at the school. Both of her daughters started in the Bout'chous class and are still moving along the different classes in the section francophone. Her husband is American and being part of the Ecole du Samedi helps her children grow in the French culture. Aurélie also helps at the library and any other events throughout the year with the potluck, the Christmas party, the crêpes day and the kermesse. Professionally, Aurélie is a general manager for a transportation company, responsible for the southeast region.

Marie Valeruz (bio)

Living in the US for 15 years, she is married to an American/German, Maximilian. Mom of two girls, Sophie and Estelle who have been attending the school since the Bout'chous class and have been attending each year since in the francophone section. Ecole du Samedi has helped her daughters grow in the French culture. Marie is also one of the librarians and takes care of many other events throughout the year with the potluck, the Christmas party, the crêpes day and the Kermesse. Professionally, Marie is a Sales Manager for Marriott International.

Marie Kennel (bio)

Marie is the mother of two girls Pauline (5yo) and Alice (2yo). She is a native of France and has been living in the US since 2011 - first in CT then in GA.
Marie graduated from the University of Tours with a Diplome Universitaire de Technologie specialization in Marketing Techniques. She also studied in an International Business School in Lyon where she earned a Master Degree in Global Business. She has 10 years of experience in the Food and Beverages Industry in France, Brazil and the USA.

Marie has various experiences teaching course at the Alliance Francaise of Greenwich CT and at Franc-o-Fun Ridgefield CT, teaching and tutoring with more than 60 students from all ages (from 18 months to 70+yo).
She speaks French, English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Catherine North (bio)

Catherine is a native of France where she completed her undergraduate studies. She has extensive experience with pre-school children and bilingual education. For several years Catherine directed her own day care center before joining Ecole du Samedi. She has been teaching the Bout'chous course since 2006.

Kindergarten 1
Sue Grother (bio)

Sue is native British and a fluent French and Spanish speaker. She studied in Toulouse in the south of France before qualifying in Early Years Education in the U.K. She spent three years working as a preschool teacher in Italy and eleven years as a Nursery teacher and Head of Early Years in one of Madrid's British International school in Spain.She moved to the US in July 2016 and is very much looking forwards to putting her love and passion for teaching young children into practice at l'Ecole Du Samedi.

Kindergarten 2
Maria Mugica Urquizu (bio)

Maria is a native French and Spanish speaker from St Sebastian, Spain. She studied at a French Lycée and graduated in Telecommunication Engineering from the Technical University in Madrid. She moved to the US in 2012 and has been teaching several grades as a substitute teacher at l’Ecole Du Samedi since 2013. She has also taught at KidsandUS Madrid from 2010 until 2013

Deme Amadou Samba (bio)

Deme Amadou Samba is from Mauritania, West Africa. He speaks 7 languages and has lived in the United States for 23 years. Deme has been teaching for 23 years. He has taught French, English and Arabic. He is currently teaching elementary ESOL in Cumming, GA and prior to that he taught in Lumpkin County

Sarah Meurisse (bio)

Sarah Meurisse is a French-American citizen who has been teaching French for 10+ years and is raising two beautiful little Franco-American children who speak only French at home. Teaching French to children is Madame Sarah's passion in life to connect the hands of the children to the French language and francophone culture. She holds a Master's Degree in Second Language Acquisition from GA State and Bachelor's Degree in K-12 Education in French and Spanish from Montana State University. She was currently been a part of the Ecole du Samedi for 6 years and is so thrilled to return in the 2017-18 school year.

Advanced levels
Tori Byrd (bio) 

Tori began teaching at Ecole du Samedi in 2003. She also teaches French full-time at Sarah Smith Elementary in Atlanta. She is from North Carolina and studied at the University of NC at Chapel Hill. Tori began learning French in high school and has been blessed to have many opportunities to travel to France. She lived in Valence in the Rhone-Alpes region for a school year and taught English to elementary-aged school children. Since then, she has had many opportunities to perfect her language skills, learn new research-based strategies for teaching French and immerse herself in cultural events around the city.

Alexandra Colin-Vansse (bio) 

Alexandra Colin-Vansse is a native French speaker, born in Paris, France. She graduated from Pantheon-Sorbonne University in Paris with a Marketing and Communication Master degree and worked during 15 years for Communication and Advertising agencies as Publicis. During those years, she discovered her specific taste to train people. She is currently preparing the Daefle (Diplôme d'Aptitude à l'enseignement du Français Langue Étrangère)

She moved from France three years ago with her husband and she is the mother of two daughters, aged of 6 years and 14 months old,Since she arrived in Atlanta, Alexandra has been privately teaching French to adults and kids and also taught French at Little Da Vinci School.

Djazia Ait (bio)

Djazia is a native of Algeria where she graduated from the University of Algiers. She lived many years in Paris and got her graduate certificate superior programs from the University of Paris - Diderot-Paris 7. She has been in the education system for 10 years as an instructor, and she is actually working in Cobb County School District in Marietta as a Special Ed assistant teacher in different classes (French, Spanish, Science and Math).

Fariza Benmeziane (bio)

Fariza is a native of Algeria. She is a certified French Secondary school teacher who graduated from the Ecole Normale of Alger. She taught French for 10 years before coming to the United States. She is now a full time instructor at Cobb County School District. She has been teaching at Ecole du Samedi since 2004.

Daniel Deveault (bio)

Daniel was born and raised in Trois-Rivières (Québec) and is a native French speaker. He graduated from U.Q.T.R. (Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières) with an education degree (French language for native speakers, secondary level). During his Master’s Degree in Études Québécoises (Quebec Studies) Daniel moved to Louisiana and started teaching French in an elementary school in Plaquemines Parish.

He then moved to Georgia and taught French in the Lumpkin County and Coweta County Schools. He has taught French at The Lovett School in Atlanta from 2001 to 2013. He teaches now at the Globe Academy.

Alexandra Forte (bio)
Alexandra is a native of France. She studied History at the University of Reims in France. She is certified as French teacher in France for elementary school (KK to 5th grade). She is married and has 4 children (4 to 13 years old) and
has been living in Cumming since july 2015.
Chantal Edjang (bio)

Chantal Edjang is a very experienced French teacher. Her experience includes: Department Chair (Present), French teacher (2000-present) Design team member in a Connect school (2003-2004) - Foreign Language Mentor and assessor in Atlanta Public Schools (2003-2007) - Translator at Business Linguistic inc (2000).

Collège 1ère année
René Houngblame (bio) 

René obtained a graduate degree in Economics at "Université du Benin" in Togo before coming to the United States. After moving to Georgia he received his French teaching K-12 certification in 2003 from Kennesaw State University. He taught for several years at "La Promotion Secondary School" Togo, Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County Schools. He now teaches French at the Lovett School (Upper School). He received a Master of Sciences in Instructional Design and Technology from Georgia State University in May 2013.

Nawal Aquachar (bio)

Nawal Aquachar is a French native speaker born in Casablanca, Morocco. After graduating from Lycee Lyautey, one of the most respected and recognized international French high schools (Academie de Bordeaux); she moved to France to pursue a Master Degree in Economics from
the University of Montpellier.

She started her career in finance. She then relocated to Cairo with her husband where she worked for BNP Paribas. She then moved to Nairobi, Kenya where she was involved with local NGOs that works with school slums before becoming a French teacher in Dubai and in the US.

Adult Classes
Nicole Aschenbroich (bio)

Nicole Aschenbroich is an experienced French language instructor and translator. She has over 15 years of experience in the areas of language training and intercultural communication. She worked as a French Language Instructor and Instruction Manager at Berlitz and Inlingua in Atlanta. She also worked as the Educational Director for the Alliance Française in Jacksonville, Florida.

Nicole Aschenbroich was born and raised in Lyon, France. She holds a degree in Psychology from the University Jean Moulin of Lyon. She studied Speech-Language Pathology at the University Claude Bernard of Lyon, with additional coursework in Public Relations/Communication.
Nicole lives in Atlanta. She is married and has 2 trilingual children.

Maryse Aston  (bio)

Born in Nancy and raised in Paris, Maryse has lived and worked in more than seven countries and traveled to more than 50. She has taught and tutored French for more than 30 years at levels ranging from adult diplomats to elementary school children of various nationalities. She is active in the Junior diplomat student exchange program and was the US envoy to the French Olympic team to the Atlanta Games. She is a gourmet chef and collector of fine jewelry.
